Dog Outdoor Protection

Dogs live for the outdoors: morning walks, trail runs, swims at the lake, and long afternoons in the backyard. Unfortunately, the tall grass, brush, and leaf litter they love to explore are also where ticks wait for a passing host. Our Dog collection brings together plant-based, DEET-free tick protection made for dogs and the people who walk them, plus the tools to remove ticks safely and a natural yard spray for the place they play most.

Plant-based tick protection for dogs and their people

TICK BAN is YAYA's original plant-based tick repellent and the only YAYA repellent labeled for use on both people and dogs. It is formulated with a targeted blend of essential oils, including cedarwood, peppermint, thyme, geranium, lemongrass, and rosemary, to help repel ticks. Tick Ban is free of DEET, mineral oil, and alcohol. The same bottle works for you and your dog when used as directed, so one spray conveniently covers both ends of the leash. Tick Ban has a fresh herbal scent, a non-greasy finish, and comes in durable and recyclable aluminum bottles. An  all-position sprayer comes standard on the 8 oz and 16 oz sizes that makes it super easy to reach your dog's legs and belly. The 4 oz size is great for travel, or throwing in your bag on the go.

How to use Tick Ban on your dog

Shake well first and spray your dog's coat thoroughly and generously before heading outside, focusing on the legs, belly, chest, back, neck and ears, where ticks most often climb on. Avoid your dog's face, eyes, nose, and mouth, as well as their sensitive private area. Reapply as needed during longer outings. Tick Ban is not recommended for cats because they are sensitive to some essential oils, so keep it away from any cats in your home. If your dog is a puppy, is pregnant or nursing, has sensitive skin, or has a health condition, check with your veterinarian before use. Tick Ban is a topical repellent, and can be a helpful part of your tick and flea prevention plan. Check, remove, and repeat

No repellent is perfect, so a quick tick check after every walk or hike is one of the best habits a dog owner can build. Scan over your dog's whole body and look closely at the ears, around the collar/neck area, under the belly and the legs, and at the base of the tail.  Crawling ticks can be easily removed, but if you find an attached tick, the TickKey tool easily removes it, head and all, with steady forward leverage, and it is small enough to clip right onto your dog's leash or keychain, or slip in your wallet. For prevention and removal in one purchase, the Ultimate Tick Defense Kit pairs Tick Ban and the TickKey with our yard spray. Our guide to the best tick removal tool walks through the technique step by step.

Protect the yard where they play

For many dogs, the backyard is where they spend the most time outside. YAYA's Tick + Mosquito Outdoor Yard Spray is powered by nature including essential oils like cedarwood and clove, and is made to help control ticks, mosquitoes, fleas, and ants on lawns, patios, gardens, shrubbery and around outdoor dog kennels. Just attach it to a garden hose and spray, and your family and dog can enjoy the yard right after application - no waiting time or drying time.  YAYA’s yard spray is the worry-free way to eliminate unwanted ticks and fleas that concern dog owners,, and it’s also safe for pollinators like bees and butterflies when used as directed.  One ready-to-use bottle covers 5,500 sq. ft., and the Yard Spray + Refill Bundle covers a total of 27,500 sq. ft. (There are four applications in a refill concentrate.) Explore more in our yard and outdoor pest control collection.

The right size for dog owners

Dog owners go through tick repellent quickly with daily walks, which is why we recommend the larger 16 oz Tick Ban (value size) for frequent use and multi-dog households. The Tick Ban 16 oz 2-Pack keeps a backup on the shelf, and the Tick Ban Value Pack pairs a 16 oz bottle for home with a 4 oz bottle for the car or dog bag. When your bottle runs low, the 16 oz + Refill Bundle lets you reuse your 16 oz aluminum bottle and cut down on excess packaging and unnecessary waste. Heading out with the whole crew? The Family Bundle adds Squito Ban and Baby Bug Ban for the people in your pack. Note that Squito Ban (mosquito repellent spray) and Baby Bug Ban (soothing bug repellent for sensitive skin) are made for people, so be mindful to  just use Tick Ban on your dog.
